Privacy Policy

We collect information that you provide, information created when you use the site, and limited information received from the services that RichButter uses to operate the site and fulfill orders.

• Contact and account information. Your name, email address, phone number, password-protected account, saved address, company name when provided, and the public name you choose for reviews.
• Order and fulfillment information. Cart contents, product selections, billing and shipping details, order history, taxes, production status, tracking information, delivery status, cancellations, returns, and refunds.
• Payment information. Payment details are entered directly into Stripe. RichButter receives transaction identifiers, payment status, totals, and limited customer references needed to reconcile an order. We do not receive or store your full payment card number or security code.
• Reviews and photos. Your rating, written review, selected public identity, and any images you upload. We also keep the internal account and order relationship needed to confirm that a review came from a verified buyer.
• Communications. Messages you send to the studio, support requests, newsletter preferences, and records of transactional emails about your account, order, or shipment.
• Technical information. Internet Protocol address, browser and device details, referring pages, timestamps, cookie identifiers, and server, security, and diagnostic logs generated when you use the site.
• Store activity. Where permitted by law and your privacy choices, Meta Pixel and the Pinterest Tag may receive the pages and products you view, shop filters you use, cart and checkout activity, and purchase value, currency, product identifiers, and quantities. RichButter does not send your name, email, shipping address, or payment details through browser advertising events. When you have allowed marketing, RichButter may also send Pinterest a server-side record of a completed purchase, which includes a one-way hashed (SHA-256) version of the order email so Pinterest can attribute the purchase to an ad. The plain email is never shared for advertising.
• Anonymous site analytics. Vercel Web Analytics may receive the public page or route viewed, referrer, timestamp, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type. RichButter excludes account, admin, authentication, and checkout confirmation pages from Web Analytics.

We do not ask you to provide government identification, biometric information, health information, or similar sensitive information through the ordinary use of the site. Account credentials and payment credentials are handled by our authentication and payment providers.

We collect personal information in three main ways:

• Directly from you when you create an account, place an order, save an address, submit a review, join the newsletter, or contact us.
• Automatically through essential cookies, server logs, and similar technology when you browse or interact with the site, plus marketing technology when permitted by your location and privacy choices.
• From service providers involved in your request, such as an identity provider when you use Google or Facebook sign-in, Stripe when a payment is processed, or Shippo and a carrier when tracking is updated.

We use personal information to:

• Create and secure accounts and remember saved preferences.
• Process payments, fulfill orders, manage made-to-order production, arrange delivery, and handle returns or refunds.
• Send account, order, production, shipment, delivery, and support communications.
• Publish and moderate verified reviews and customer photos according to the identity choice made when the review is submitted.
• Send studio news or product updates when you choose to join the newsletter.
• Protect customers and the site, prevent fraud and misuse, diagnose errors, and maintain reliable operations.
• Comply with tax, accounting, legal, regulatory, and dispute resolution obligations.
• Understand how the RichButter store is used and improve our products, services, and customer experience.
• Measure advertising performance, understand which products interest visitors, and build or reach advertising audiences when permitted by your location and privacy choices.

RichButter uses cookies that are necessary to operate its store. They keep you signed in, associate your browser with a cart, protect a checkout confirmation, and support security. The cart cookie may remain for up to 30 days, and the checkout confirmation cookie may remain for up to 7 days. Authentication cookies follow the duration required to maintain your account session.

Stripe, Google Maps, Google, Facebook sign-in, and other features you choose to use may set or read their own cookies and receive technical information under their own privacy policies. You can block cookies in your browser, but essential account, cart, checkout, and payment features may stop working correctly.

RichButter also uses optional marketing tags, Meta Pixel and the Pinterest Tag, for ad measurement, audience building, and personalized advertising. For visitors in the United States, these tags may load unless you decline them through Privacy Choices or use an enabled Global Privacy Control signal. For visitors outside the United States, they stay off until you select "Allow marketing." When enabled, Meta and Pinterest may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technology to receive store activity. Each handles that information under its own privacy policy and retention practices: see the Meta privacy policy and the Pinterest privacy policy. Select "Privacy Choices" in the site footer to change your choice at any time.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies. It provides anonymous, aggregated traffic reporting and does not associate page views with an individual or store an end user's IP address.

We disclose personal information only as reasonably needed to operate RichButter, complete your requests, and meet legal obligations. Current service providers include:

• Supabase for accounts, authentication, database hosting, and image storage.
• Stripe for payment processing, fraud prevention, tax calculation, and payment records.
• Shippo and shipping carriers for labels, fulfillment, delivery, and tracking.
• Resend for transactional email and the newsletter.
• Vercel for website hosting, delivery, security, operational logs, and anonymous Web Analytics.
• Google for address suggestions, maps, and optional Google sign-in.
• Meta for optional Facebook sign-in and Meta Pixel advertising measurement and audiences, subject to your location and privacy choices.
• Pinterest for optional Pinterest Tag advertising measurement and audiences, subject to your location and privacy choices.

We may also disclose information to professional advisers, insurers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, protect rights and safety, respond to fraud or security concerns, or complete a financing, merger, sale, or transfer of all or part of the business.

RichButter does not sell personal information. The disclosure of identifiers and store activity to Meta and Pinterest may be considered sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising under some state privacy laws. United States visitors can turn off this optional sharing through Privacy Choices. Outside the United States, it stays off until you allow marketing cookies.

Published reviews are visible to the public. If you choose to use a name, that name appears with the review. If you choose to remain anonymous, the review appears as anonymous while RichButter retains the private account and purchase relationship required to verify the review.

Review text and uploaded photos may be displayed on product pages and used as described in our Terms of Service. Do not upload content that reveals information you do not want made public or that includes another person without permission.

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including:

• Account information while the account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward.
• Order, payment, refund, tax, and shipping records for the periods required by accounting, tax, consumer protection, and other laws.
• Newsletter information until you unsubscribe, subject to a limited suppression record so we can honor the request.
• Reviews and photos while published or until they are removed, subject to backups, legal obligations, and records needed to prevent misuse.
• Security, diagnostic, and provider logs for their operational retention periods.

When information is no longer needed, we may delete it, de-identify it, or retain it in a restricted backup until the backup is replaced.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, password-protected accounts, service-provider access controls, and verification for payment and shipping webhooks.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please use a unique password, protect access to your email and account, and contact us if you believe your account or personal information has been compromised.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, portability, or a description of how information is used and disclosed. You may also have the right to object to or limit certain processing and to avoid discriminatory treatment for exercising a privacy right.

• Update profile and saved-address information through your account when those controls are available.
• Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in the message or by contacting us. You may still receive necessary account, order, and support messages.
• Open Privacy Choices in the site footer to allow or decline Meta Pixel and Pinterest Tag marketing cookies. Declining does not affect essential store features.
• Request access, correction, deletion, or another privacy action by emailing contact@richbutter.com.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We may retain or decline to delete information when permitted or required for payment records, taxes, fraud prevention, security, legal claims, or another lawful purpose. An authorized agent may make a request when applicable law permits and we can verify the agent's authority.

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of a sale or sharing of personal information when the applicable legal requirements are met. RichButter does not sell personal information. You can turn off optional Meta Pixel and Pinterest Tag sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising through Privacy Choices.

When the site detects an enabled Global Privacy Control signal and no earlier RichButter privacy choice, it keeps Meta Pixel and the Pinterest Tag off. RichButter does not currently respond to the older Do Not Track signal, which does not provide a consistent industry standard. You can always use Privacy Choices to control optional marketing tags.

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where required.

RichButter operates in the United States, and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the site from another country, your information may be transferred to a location with different data-protection laws. We use information as described in this policy and apply protections required by applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to RichButter, our providers, or legal requirements. The effective date at the top will be updated when a revision is posted. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we may also provide notice through the site or by email when appropriate.
